The dinner and prom will be held across the street at the Valley Community Center (4444 Fuller Road, West Des Moines). Guests will enjoy a limo ride between buildings. Guests in a wheelchair can be picked up at the Valley Community Center at the end of the night.
What is the schedule for the event?
Doors will open at 3 pm. Pre-Prom is 3-5:30 pm, and Prom is 4:30-9 pm, with dinner starting at 6 pm and dance starting at 7:15 pm.
What is Pre-Prom?
This is a time for our guests to get pampered with make-up, hair, nails, flowers, shoe shines, and photos! Parents and caregivers will escort their guest as they prepare for prom and are crowned king/queen!
What should I wear?
This event is a formal prom, so our guests are asked to wear modest dresses or dress pants & ties. Suit coats/tuxedoes are encouraged but not required. Please, no jeans! We will host a Formal Attire Boutique in January.
Will there be food?
Absolutely! There will be light snacks at pre-prom and a dinner at prom itself. We will do our best to accommodate any allergies or basic dietary needs, except puree food.
Do I need a caregiver present?
If a guest has a medical, toileting, or feeding need that requires a trained staff member, the caregiver must stay with them and should register as a volunteer.
Will there be a place for family and caregivers to stay?
Yes, we will have a Hospitality Room at the church for any family members/caretakers to utilize. This room will have a live feed of the Prom, and a catered dinner will be included. Please let your Welcome Team contact know you want to be in the hospitality room.
Do I need a date?
Each guest will be provided a buddy for the evening. If a guest would like to bring his/her own buddy, they can, but make sure they register as a prom buddy volunteer.
Are the facilities universally accessible?
The entire event is located on ground level. We will have wheelchair-accessible options for the limo ride. Bathrooms are also handicapped accessible. Changing tables are available as needed. Caregivers will be responsible for changing any guest who requires it. If there is a specific need, please do not hesitate to ask!
How much does it cost?
