Be a part of our expansion initiative to MAKE ROOM for the future of our Valley family!

IMPORTANT UPDATE

Because of a misunderstanding concerning dates on our end, we encountered a hurdle in securing registrations for this trip. Despite Apex graciously extending the timeline for us and a concerted effort to gain registrations, we unfortunately have fallen short of the group minimum required to go.

Through talks with Apex, and discussion amongst our team, we’ve ultimately decided to close registration and step away from the trip this year. We understand the disappointment this news may bring, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Although this particular Mission Trip cannot proceed as planned, we remain committed to providing opportunities to mobilize the God-given potential of our students to deeply love Jesus and their neighbors. We will continue to partner with Apex moving forward and look forward to the impact that our group can have on a trip like this in the future.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to Isaac at our office number.

Thank you for your understanding,

Valley Church High School Ministry Team

What is Apex?

Apex is the student missions program for the Evangelical Free Church of America. They exist to serve the local church by helping them mobilize the next generation of gospel influencers to take the gospel from here to everywhere. They do this by offering students—the most sendable and teachable part of our society—bite-sized missions opportunities.

Students will be challenged by needs outside their bubble, equipped by long-term laborers, and impacted by the power of the gospel through a different cultural lens. Apex trips are designed to be authentic and strategic. Students join long-term workers to gain experience as they learn from the city, strangers, workers, and each other.

Where are we going this year?

Our host church will be Hope Community Church in Columbia Heights, MN. While we will be helping with work in their local context, we will also be joining their partners in ministry for work in St. Paul & Minneapolis, MN.

What do I need to bring?

We will be gone for a week, so you’ll need to pack a suitcase with everything you would need for this length of time. In general, students should pack:

  • Sleeping bag or air mattress
  • Bedding
  • Toiletries
  • A towel
  • Bible
  • Comfortable clothing to work in (t-shirt, shorts/jeans, and tennis shoes are perfect)
  • Spending money

As we get closer to the trip, we’ll send an email with a packing list to those registered.

What kind of work will we be doing?

The vision of Apex is not just to send students to a location, have them do work, and leave. The goal is to equip students to serve and spread the message of the gospel wherever they go. With this in mind, not only will we be serving different ministries and partners of our host church, but we will also receive training and encouragement from local leaders who are making an impact in their city. Apex teaches students how to use their gifts to make an impact right where they are.

Some activities that we will experience are:

  • A cookout with the community
  • Serving at a VBS Day Camp for our host church
  • Sharing the gospel with people in the community
  • Receiving training through teaching & workshops

What does registration cover?

Look, we know that this trip is an investment – but we believe that it’s a worthwhile investment. Not only does it enable us to take our students to an area outside of their bubble to do real-world ministry, but it also sets students up with the tools they need to be the church when they get back home. In general, registration helps cover…

  • Room and board
  • Travel Expenses
  • Pre-trip training materials
  • On-site ministry costs
  • & Some ministry supplies
