Cultivating Friendship by Living Out God’s Word Together
Life Groups are centered around four rhythms:
Share what is happening in your everyday life.
Study God’s Word to learn and live it out in real life.
Support one another with encouragement, prayer, and practical help.
Serve the church and community using your time, talents, and resources.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Life Group?
Life Groups are gatherings made up of around 10–16 people who meet weekly to foster friendship through the regular rhythms of sharing, studying, serving, and supporting.
When can I sign up?
Sign up during our fall, winter, and spring sessions using our Groups Catalog.
How do I choose a Life Group?
Life Group leader biographies and online sorting filters are designed to help you find the best group for you. Once you find a group, request to join and the leader will be notified of your interest and will reach out directly.
When and where do Life Groups meet?
Groups meet on various nights of the week in homes throughout the greater Des Moines area. To get a better feel of where groups meet, use our neighborhood sorting filter or mapping feature when searching our Groups Catalog.
What is the required commitment?
When you join, you are committing to your group through the next session. Active attendance and participation are key to a strong Life Group. If you sign up for a group and decide it is not a good fit for you, let us know in the first two weeks and we will happily help you find another.
What will we study?
Most groups are sermon-based and discuss the previous weekend’s message. There may also be times when Valley encourages all groups to go through a different study material or your group desires to try something different for a season before returning to sermon-based discussions.
How do I become a Life Group leader?
All of our leaders must have experience being a member of a group for at least a session and go through Leader Essentials Training before being considered as a potential leader.
