June 9 | 12:30-2 PM | Valley Church

We want to celebrate the beginning of the Summer with you! So, we’re inviting students to join us for this special lunch event! We’ll gather around a meal, play some games, and hang out! This event will be the perfect, laid back environment for new students to jump into and get a feel for what HSM is all about! Students are encouraged to bring a friend!

June 10 | 6:00 - 8:00 PM | Valley Community Center

The Splash Bash is a fun, water-play event for families, and it is one of the most well-loved activities during Love You Des Moines Days. The Children’s Ministry and High School Ministry teams partner together to host this event, and we can’t wait to work with you to make it a blast for the families that come. We need you to make it a success! We need help setting up the event, running the activities, and tearing the event down.

Please review the available volunteer opportunities, and sign up for whichever role will work for you.

June 13 | 10 AM-Noon | Valley 4100 House

Freshmen Event #1. We know that moving up from Middle School to High School can be a little scary. However, we think that you can make the move with confidence! So, incoming Freshmen are invited to join us at the Valley 4100 House (4100 Fuller Rd), which is our Student Ministries Team offices, to learn a little more about what High School Ministry (HSM) at Valley Church looks like. This is a great opportunity to get to know Isaac & Sandy as well as to ask questions about what to expect.

June 23 | 6-8 PM | Valley Community Center

We’re ready to get Summer started right with this kickoff event at the Valley Community Center from 6-8 PM on June 23! We’ll have color wars, grilled food, team games, and a short devo!

July 1-5 | Kansas City, MO

REGISTRATION CLOSED. Challenge will be hosted July 1-5 in Kansas City, MO. Challenge is the EFCA’s biennial national gathering for students, committed to planting and watering the gospel among the next generation. The vision is for students to experience the joy of knowing Jesus and helping others do the same. Challenge blends aspects of a conference, a mission trip, and camp to create a catalytic environment that moves beyond the mountaintop moment to building missional momentum in their faith journey. This year’s theme is From the Mountain, taking a deep-dive into Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount.

July 14 | 8:15, 9:30 and 11:00 AM Services

Baptism is an important moment in the lives of Christ-followers! Students will have the chance to get baptized at any of the Sunday morning worship services. To get baptized, middle schoolers must complete the following three steps:

  1. Attend an Explore Baptism Gathering. Students only need to attend one session. No RSVP is required; just show up! Gatherings will be held on Sunday, June 16 and Sunday, June 23.
  2. Fill out the online baptism form. After you submit the form, someone from our team will contact you with next steps!
  3. Record a baptism testimony video to be played during your baptism service. Sign up dates will be coming soon.

July 23 | Noon-2 PM | Valley Community Center Pavilion

Freshmen Event #2. Alright Freshmen, now that you know what HSM will look like and what to expect, let’s all get to know each other! Student Life Groups in HSM are determined by grade and gender, so you may or may not know the other students who will be in your group. This is the perfect environment to get to know one another – over delicious grilled food! We’ll also have a couple upperclassmen pop in and introduce themselves!

Let’s get connected!

August 21 | 6-8 PM | Valley Church

Freshmen Event #3. At this point, our incoming Freshmen are basically HSM veterans! To celebrate a Summer of connection and growth, we’ll gather together for a Movie Night at Valley Church. Popcorn, candy, and great company. What more could you need? We’ll tell you! SENIORS! We’re inviting our Senior Class to join us so you can get to know them a little more and they can give you a little advice as we close in on the school year.
