The Valley Community Center is opening its doors for a 6th-8th grade takeover during Love You Des Moines Days! This is a low-key night for students to come and hang out, play games, and connect with other middle schoolers.

Adventureland (For students entering 6th-8th grade this fall)

  • Cost: $40
  • Drop off and pick up at Adventureland
  • Bring money for lunch
  • Optional: bring a bag with a swimsuit and towel for Adventure Bay

Enjoy the rides all day with your friends and leaders! Admission to the Adventure Bay water park is included. If students want to swim they can bring a swimsuit. Guys – No Speedos. Girls – Wear a one-piece suit or a two-piece suit with a dark t-shirt on top. Email Ashley if you have a season pass or if you need help with transportation.

Urban Plunge Des Moines (For students entering 6th-8th grade this fall)

  • Drop off at 3pm on Friday at Valley Church, pick up at 2pm on Sunday at Valley Church
  • Urban Plunge Training on July 21 from 11am-2pm at the Valley Community Center

Urban Plunge is a mission trip that provides students with hands-on ministry experiences. Students will be able to increase their awareness about the issues facing poor and homeless people and tangibly bless people in need. It’s a chance to follow Jesus’ example of love and service. Space is limited to 25 students and open to students entering 6th-8th grade this fall.

6th Grade Boot Camp (For students entering 6th grade this fall)

  • RSVP by Sunday, August 11
  • Cost: $20
  • Valley Student Ministries Room
  • Bring your own lunch every day – we will serve dessert

6th graders will have a chance to spend some time together before the school year starts. We will play games and have a short talk about things like school, friends, and peer pressure. We will also eat lunch together (bring your own lunch) and spend time connecting as a 6th grade class. All participants will get a t-shirt at the start of the week!

Parent Connect for Students and Parents (For students entering 6th-8th grade this fall)

  • No RSVP required – just show up

This is a special program to provide a shared experience for 6th-12th grade students and their parents. The morning is specifically designed knowing that students will be in attendance with their parents. This is NOT a parent meeting. It is a time to grow closer as a family and learn how to follow Jesus in your home every day.

Pool Party (For students entering 6th-8th grade this fall)

  • Drop off and pick up at Zoe Olsen’s House: 9588 NW 74th Place, Grimes, IA  50111

Swim in the pool, jump on the trampoline, shoot hoops, or play in the yard. We’ll have plenty of options for fun during the Pool Party! We will serve ice cream sundaes! Boys-No Speedos. Girls-Wear a one-piece suit or a two-piece suit with a dark t-shirt on top.
